Sixteen-year-old Sparrow Harper, lover of birds, has a relentlessly ordinary life. She only feels truly alive during her flying dreams. But they leave her oddly sore and heartbroken, because human flight isn't possible. Her mother sends her to a mysterious summer camp in Maine, claiming it will help . . . At camp, Sparrow is new to their secret world, but she may be the most talented one there. The deadly trials at camp prove that her abilities in the sky are unique. The infuriating Heron Cirrus warns her to hide her talents. When a vicious cult of Raptors begins to recruit the best young fledglings, Sparrow must decide whether to fly away or fight.

Hello. I am an author in the beautiful state of Maine. My favorite genres are YA (young adult), dystopian science fiction, and fantasy. My stories have a romance subplot because I love the added tension and complex relationships. I craft strong female characters who'd rather teach themselves than be taught.
Thomasina Bloom is a pen name. The inspiration for Fly the Wild Sky was my own flying dreams. In college, I studied biochemistry and literature -- a potent combination.
As a voracious book reader, I hope my own readers will say, "I could not put it down." When I'm not writing (or reading), I'm taking care of my family, drinking coffee, working a day job, feeding my chickens, and rubbing my black lab's belly. My favorite bird is the chickadee, but I also love owls, crows, and other things that fly, especially dragonflies.
Like Sparrow Harper, I'm jumping off a cliff, publishing my own dystopian novel. Please sign up below to join the flock. I am thrilled you're here!
